Dear badger,

I want to thank you once again for writing another post on this mass killing of the parish animals and what I and many other people believe is a cover up by the top leaders (Parish President Gordon Burgess) and media of this parish.

What I would love to see in the Hammond paper as well on other media, is the asking of the strong and pointed questions that will bring out the facts of this crime, as I and many others do believe that laws were broken.

Where are the answers to the questions that not many in the media are even asking - the hard questions, the ones that demand clear, detailed, and factual answers?

Questions like:

1. Who took the tests for this deadly mystery animal disease that they are claiming swept through the whole animal shelter population overnight? A disease that spread so swiftly that the top kennel manager noticed no problem out of ordinary on the Saturday before the Monday of August 4 th.

2. If protecting the parish public and their pets was the parish leaders true motive (as they seem to be claiming in the media) for this mass killing, then why didn't the Veterinarians they called in, expose their identity to the media right from the beginning to help the public deal with any sickness that their pets may have been exposed to? The animals in the shelter came from the parish so the disease must have come from the parish too (or did little green men fly it in?).

2. What samples were taken and where were these samples sent for testing?

3. Why hasn't the public given the name of the facility handling this serious disease breakout?

4. Why did the Veterinarian, Thomas L. Hulsey, show up at the shelter with enough chemicals to kill the entire shelter population?

5. Why was the shelter director, Donald Doty, directing the staff to hold too many animals and to not to euthanize obviously sick animals (weeks and months before the killings took place)? Donald Doty, was away at class during the week of Aug 4.

6. Was the shelter director, Donald Doty, contacted Aug 4 about the decision to wipe out the whole population and what was his suggestion?

7. When can the parish public expect completed results of the tests and the mystery disease diagnosed conclusively?

8. Why were there animals release to members of the public from TPAC on Aug 4th if two to four experts (number keeps changing) suggested the disease diagnosis required all to be killed instantly? So far the animals taken that day have not succumbed to the deadly (yet still-unidentified) disease that the parish claims the entire animal shelter population was stricken with and dieing from. Nor has any of parish's Veterinarians come forth with any news of a serious disease running rampart through their clients' pets.

Some of these questions were asked by the media and the public before and at the Monday night council meeting, but were strangely and totally ignored by the Parish President and council members.

So my last two questions are...

9. How in the world can the parish leaders expect the public to believe and trust that this mass killing will be completely investigated by an attorney (Glen Galbraith) hired by the parish (the killers) to investigate it self?

10. Am I only one of a few that seems to think that the only thing that stinks more than our landfill stuffed with dead animals is what seems to be a parish government cover up of this crime?

I am also tired of hearing the parish officials and media blaming the public for this killing - which seems to be a tactic to divert attention away from the actual crime.

badger, I am posting this comment here in your blog because the local media (Hammond Star = Daily Star) will probably not post this comment just like they didn't post my other comments that contained hard questions.

The 172 animals killed Aug 4 th are dead and gone. I know my questions nor their answers, can bring them back or make their killing any less of a tragedy.

BUT the people of Tangipahoa parish deserve and should demand a government and media with leaders that are honest, possess ethics, uphold the state and local laws, and keep their people's best interest at the top of their minds and in all their actions.

Emotion and hope are both needed because without them no action is taken, so I say, feel, have hope, take action, and demand change.

I believe that laws were broken and that an (outside of the parish) investigation should be demanded. The investigation needs to cover all those in a position of leadership and their followers -- all that had anything to do with the parish run animal control facility on and before the killings on August 4, 2008.

I posted a comment under the first story on the TPAC shelter killings and they post that, but then they would not post my next couple of comments - the ones where I ask some hard questions - many that are yet to be answered by the media or the parish officials.

From top to bottom this mass killing is being covered up and the media and parish keeps blaming only its own readers for what happened on August 4, 2008.

But too many of us believe we know what really happened and why and it has nothing to do with any animal disease - more like government disease.
